Fancy Schmancy Lunch

A girlfriend treated me to a fabulous lunch today (Tommy Bahama's at Fashion Island, for those of you local to SoCal) and while the company was great (and therapeutic), the food was even better.

Are you ready? A lobster grilled cheese with a cup of heirloom tomato soup. Go ahead...say it.

You. Have. Got. To. Be Kidding. Me.

=0)

I then had to drive a mile or so down towards the beach...gotta love a little strip of land surrounded by water and absolutely amazing billion dollar houses.

Sadly, I wasn't there to gaze at the sandy beach or great houses or lovely blue water...for me, it's report card time and I was there to gaze at a crossing guard. Or 3.

Sigh.

On the way home I drove by this house and by golly...there was a boat parked in it's side yard. And not a small boat, either. Would you want that in your neighbors yard???

In BriBear news...this poor 12 year old now has his jaw locked together for 18 hours a day for the next TEN MONTHS.

And it hurts...poor thing.

And to think we thought the expander was bad.

=0(

He can pull it out to eat and for PE and trumpet, but then it goes right back in.

OH...and he can't talk. Have you met Brian??? Brian is a TALKER.

This. Is. Torture.

Quiet torture.

I want to say a big thank you for all of your prayers...our family is truly blessed. I literally had close to a dozen meetings this week setting a plan for our son in motion, which in itself is exhausting. At some point when he is ready (and it may be a long time), I will share his story (as a success...because he will be) with the hope that it can bless others.

But we're not there yet.

I love this quote sent to me by a friend..."One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can't be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest." - Maya Angelou

My son has potential AND courage.

  1. What is going on with Bri's teeth? Why are they in prison 18 hours a day?

  2. What does the ortho appliance do? It's scaring Rachel, as she just got her braces on. Her bit is so off, I'm hoping braces itself will correct it. Plus, the teeth that won't grow all the way in. But, tell Brian it's a LOT better than what Russ had ~ major jaw surgery to correct the bite.
