One of the fun things about being an Aunt is that you have a certain veto power with the parental unit...and the kids know it.
Case in point...'Can I squirt it in my mouth?'
The parents say 'no' (in unison, I might add) while the Aunt and Uncle say 'of course you can!'
Who would you listen to?

My last hike, yesterday morning, began in the dark. It was kind of creepy, really.
But then...then the sun peeked over the hill and it was so beautiful.

Brian playing ball while his parents (top left corner of the picture) watch intently. Not long after this photo, his shoe fell apart.
A moment of thankful silence for duct tape. Please.

Oh, and in case you want to know what my lunch was...it was the best burger I've ever had. Not very dainty to eat but worth every. single. bite.
The low down? A burger, gorgonzola cheese, garlic-lemon aioli, lettuce, tomato and a panko crusted onion ring on a homemade challah roll. It's like 3 feet tall and impossible to eat but so very, very yummy.
Tonight we're all gathered in the family room...the boys are watching The Avengers while working on homework (or at least Brian is), that guy that I like so much is working on something or other for Christmas time at church and I'm stalking my oldest son on the internet. (sorry, Matthew, but mama misses you.) It's actually chilly in the house tonight and no, I am not complaining...but it's the perfect temp for a cup of tea and the latest Bon Appetit magazine.
Nice.
