This Week

This week, my son (the one who is wearing my diamonds in his ears) is happy.  He found a new place to live at his new school and also got a new job (teaching marching band) that starts this weekend.

When he's happy, mama is happy.

This week, I got SCREAMED at by a crossing guard who told me that because I make her stand in the sun (for her 45 minute shift) that when she gets skin cancer she is going to sue me and the company.

I very calmly explained to her (in that voice that grown-ups reserve for talking to children) that crossing guards stand outside in the sun, in the rain, in the sleet and snow and hail and if...IF that was going to be an issue then maybe she was in the wrong profession.

She screamed some more.  And swore at me.  And for the first time in a long time, I was shaken when I got off the phone.  That saying...the sticks and stones one?  Wrong.  Words DO hurt.

That guy that I like so much cheered me up.  Lunch at Lucille's (and yeppers, I had a beer at lunchtime)  was perfect.

This week, I got a promotion.  For reals.  I will no longer be dealing with crossing guards like I have been...I'll be empowering (hopefully!) their bosses to deal with them.

God is good.

This week that guy that I like so much, who makes a rather pretty garden if I do say so myself, planted lavender in a pot on the front porch because he knows I like lavender.

I like him, too.

This week my car went into the shop and it wasn't pretty.  It could have been worse but it could have been better.  I mean there could have been 7 repairs need that were each over $800 rather than just 6.

Right?

This week we picked fig after fig after fig from our tree.

A little fig, a little goat cheese, a little honey, a little sea salt.

A lotta happiness.
