Wax Lips and Girlie Girl Shoes

Wax lips!!!

Other than that, we are pretty boring. There's just not a whole lot going on. The basketball season officially opens next weekend, but we're playing a tournament this coming one to get the team ready for the road. In the meantime, it's been quiet with only 3 practices per week and nothing on the weekends. Marching band ended last weekend and so have the 7am practices, which makes for more people sharing bathrooms at the same time. They'll work it out, I'm sure. Brian is also in a lull...his soccer season is over and All-Stars won't start until December.

So it's been kinda quiet around here this week.

I did drive to LA for my 1st ever, real life board meeting. When my business sold last June, I was asked to serve on the board of the non-profit that is now running it. I agreed, not quite knowing what I was getting myself into.

Typical Michele. Jump 1st, think after.

I knew I was in trouble early on. Off came the flip flops and on went the real life girl shoes. And then? The President of the board spent 40 minutes talking about himself and all his accomplishments. I guess you do that in board meetings. They had passed out folders with everyone's bio's in it...couldn't we just have read about him?

I guess not.

Speaking of bio's...they had written one on me. Gotta love how good they can make you sound on paper. Talk about s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g the truth. So they go around this rather large table and everyone introduces themselves and then talks forever about how great they are.

Gag.

My turn comes and I tell them my name and that I am a wife and stay-at-home mom and that I feel blessed to be able to work with so many accomplished people.

Silence.

Right then and there I knew that me and my girlie shoes would be eating lunch alone.

Which we didn't. It turned out to be rather exciting stuff and I am going to be proud to serve on this board. They listened to all my ideas and really seemed to want my vision to come to life, which is pretty cool. Made the real life girlie shoes worth wearing.

I came home exhausted and took a little snooze before the boys invaded my territory. I am craving Nick's, but it is Wednesday and I don't like going on Hector's day off. I'll make lemon chicken and use the last of the basil plant to make some pesto. There's also some asparagus that will be roasted, which makes for alot of green on the plate, but I'll survive. How anal is that?
