This Week

My favorite Italian deli has a bazillion different kinds of salami, with my current favorite being the fennel salami.  Of course, since it the most expensive one.  It's from Italy and I envision some older gentlemen hand carrying it to the port, hand rowing it across the ocean and then walking with it slung over his shoulder across the good 'ole US of A.

For $17.99 a pound, that's how it should be anyway.

Basketball.  It fills every moment of free time for the babe of the family.  Kinda fun to be doing this again.

In the middle of errand running a gray cloud came over me, so that guy that I like so much and I stopped in at Peet's for a little afternoon delight.  Espresso doppio for him; a sugar free mocha for me.  I'd like to say that it was an instant pick me up, but my grumpiness hung on.

Oh well.

Yesterday morning rain came to southern California, which meant that was the only thing being posted all over Facebook.  I was out training a new supervisor (who continues to be SO rude to me and I just don't get it.  I've been killing her with kindness and am, quite frankly, at a loss as to how to deal with it. Sigh.) on how to train a new crossing guard...in the rain.  It was cold and wet and glorious...and in the midst, a present from God.  A big, beautiful rainbow. So while I was being once again belittled by someone who works for me, I was given a sign to continue what I'm doing...treat her with kindness and dignity no matter how she continues to treat me.

It's hard though.

I am so in love with my new work car...it's quirky like me.  The best part is the sunroof (the worst part...no radio) that is thankfully waterproof.  If you saw this car you'd understand why I'm even mentioning that...but yes, it is water tight.

My contribution to our bible study snack...pumpkin bread pudding with salted caramel sauce.  (I omit the raisins and add 1 tsp kosher salt to the caramel.)  This, my friends, is what we will be eating in heaven.  No question.  At all.  The smell is absolutely divine...but nothing can describe how great it tastes.

Christmas morning we are so eating this.

The garden after the first rain, complete with last nights trash by the back gate because some boy was too lazy to walk it out to the can.  Those extra few steps are a doozy.

My little house on my little street is FULL of flowers thanks to my sister-in-law who came with armloads of flowers leftover from a wedding she was doing.  Every pitcher in my house is full of wild looking bunches...happy, happy, happy.  And also a little sneezy, sneezy, sneezy...but it's been worth it.

The mantle has her Autumn decor on...it might stay this way until Christmas time because not only is the remaining Halloween box missing, but so is the Thanksgiving box.  Hmmmm...where oh where have they gone?

This morning I am taking it easy...I have a little paperwork to do and a few phone calls to make, but then I am going to make myself a cup of tea and bless my house.  She needs a little attention...a sweep here and there and maybe a swipe or two of a dust rag.  The laundry is also overflowing so that will be conquered as well.  Supper tonight?  I'm going to make a big pot of gravy and simmer it all afternoon...there'll be a quite a few happy males here tonight.

Happy Friday, everyone!
