I cannot believe that today is the first day of August...summer is whooshing right on by. I've decided, after lots and lots of time spent thinking and praying and over thinking and under praying, to return to my job this year.
And I am at peace about it.

Anyway, this has been the summer of pasta salads. Grill up some sort of meat, mix up a huge pasta salad that makes enough to end world hunger (or feed a houseful of boys plus quite a few extras that always make their way to our table each night) and supper is served.
I love that you can mix up whatever you have on hand...the one below is tortellini, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, arugula and fresh mozzarella, all tossed in a simple italian vinaigrette. Seriously, the combinations are endless and you just can't make it wrong.
And now.
Close your eyes if you are squeamish.
OK?
Brian had some sort of bite that became infected.
Super gross.
Super big.
Super antibiotics.
(and this is when it was small. seriously. it is HUGER now. ewwww.)
Instagram. My new love.
Never heard of it? Download the app on your super phone, follow everyone and share your life...it's like the new Facebook.
Gotta love kids who teach you about new things...the kid below? My oldest. He's moving out soon...out to start his 'new' life as a grad student in a new city. He's got loads of really nice furniture and has been packing up his stuff here at home.
Sigh.
Last night was taco night...taco's as in grilled steak and all the fixings. It seems that no matter how much I cook, there are NEVER any leftovers.
I have to say, I am pretty experienced at cooking mass quantities of food...but this summer we have reached a whole new level of eating happening around these parts and even I am having trouble keeping up.
These people EAT A LOT.
The dryer is fixed (again) and so today will be spent trying to catch up on all the laundry that wasn't done over the last week. Oh, and the repair was free...though we were told it shouldn't have been. Whatever.
Other than laundry?
The Olympics!
(on TV...not in person.)

Yay for free dryer repairs...and jobs that pay the bills for all those things that aren't free...and all the days left of summer vacation. I have just two weeks left after this week, so I am savoring every last moment (even when I am working to set up my classroom).
ReplyDeleteNow that is one good looking pasta salad. Btw, I think there is a blueberry picking place in Camarillo. I was in NH at the time. Good luck.
