Sing a Little Song

This morning, I hung even more lights onto our already well lit house.

Which is no biggie, unless you want to use the convection oven while they are all lit.  Or a hair dryer.  Or a television.

You get the point.

And also...is it really so bad to plug like 28 strands of lights into one outlet?

As I was outside in the chilly 71 degree weather, Christmas music blaring thru the open door...my kitties were frolicking around the ladder I was on.  They were so cute and silly, hopping and playing in the bushes.

I was so happy and my cats were so happy and it was sunny and I was singing and I thought to myself...wow, I am Snow White.

Yep.

Snow White.

That's me.

The outside of our house is now very, very Christmas-y while the inside is still rather Thanksgiving-ish-ly.  I even whistled a sweet little tune to the animals with hopes that they would take care of the inside, but alas, they didn't listen.

Oh well.

Tonight was a concert...a choir concert starring none other than Alex.  In a tux.  Singing.

Happily singing.

I think he gets it from me.

It was so funny...at half time, I mean intermission, a mom we know came up and told us she knew right away which boy was ours...the small dark haired kid that looks exactly like Matthew.

Ummm...no.  Ours would be the really tall blonde in the back.

NO, she said.

YES, I replied.

NO, she said.

Ummmm....YES, I replied.

And back and forth we went until she was convinced that I knew which child I had given birth to.

Crazy.

(pictures tomorrow...I am too tired to plug in my camera, so just close your eyes and imagine...)

  1. A chilly 71 degrees?! I'm with you in spirit...except by body is stuck in an Arctic climate until next May or June.

Singing around the house? Ever seen the movie Enchanted? It's one of my all-time favorite movies with a sweet singing princess and handsome prince. I just love it when he asks her if she always breaks into song. Maybe I'll have to watch it again over Christmas break. : )

  2. Okay Cheryl and I are starting to think alike -- which is scary for her!

From Enchanted, the happy working song:

Come my little friends as we all sing a happy little working song
Merry little voices clear and strong
Come and roll your sleeves up - so to speak - and pitch in
Cleaning crud up in the kitchen as we sing along
Trill a cheery tune in the tub as we scrub a stubborn mildew stain
Pluck a hairball from the shower drain to that gay refrain of a happy working song
We'll keep singing without fail - otherwise we'd spoil it
Hosing down the garbage pail and scrubbing up the toilet - ooh!
How we enjoy letting loose with a little ladadumdumdum!
While we're emptying the vacuum up it's such fun to hum a happy working song - ooh! -
    A happy working song
Oh how strange a place to be
'till Edward comes for me, my heart is sighing
Still, as long as I am here I guess a new experience could be worth trying
    Hey! Keep trying!
You can do a lot when you've got such a happy working tune to hum
While you're sponging up the soapy scum
We adore each filthy chore that we determine
So friends, even though you're vermin, we're all happy working (Duh)
Singing as we fetch the detergent box for the smelly shirts and the stinky socks
    Sing along
If you can not sing then hum along
As we're finishing our happy working song!

  3. Please excuse my sister and bil. They have a few marbles loose.

I do have to agree, "chilly" 71 degrees? Hmmmm. Time for shorts and swimsuits. Here it's a WHOPPING 16 degrees. The wind chill makes it feel like ONE degree. That's warm, as it's above zero. Plus, we going to get more snow tonight or tomorrow.

  4. Okay...I think I need to take a break from my Christmas CDs and put on the Enchanted soundtrack. I'll try to refrain from wearing the silver and rhinestone tiara which has been worn for costumes and possibly a school dance. Anyways, I just got back from Kate's show choir gig in which they sang both Christmas medleys and a Hairspray medley, so other people also must think that Christmas carols and show tunes can mix together. Girls movie night, anyone? After all, I'm on a roll with having seen High School Musical 3 and Twilight in the last week.
