Shining Moments

I once told a girl that we could NOT be friends anymore because she did not know all the words to this song.

Not one of my better moments.

But I liked Journey THAT much.

=0)

The year was 1982 and I was new in California. I was supposed to be spending the night with my friend Dawn, but instead (I am sooo sorry, mom!) I was picked up on the corner by my cousin Dave. In a jalopy. We drove to Oakland, picking up a hitchhiker or two along the way and met up at my Godmother's house. After unloading and reloading with different people, we were off to the cow palace in SF.

Now my Godmother, who was at one time a very nice Lutheran girl, became a bit tied up in the hippie revolution. To put it mildly. Still nice, but free and wild.

Anyway, she took me to see Journey.

I was in love.

I knew the words to every single song and with my Bic flicked, sang them right along with Steve Perry. And he sang to me.

Love, I tell ya.

The reason for this post? Alex was listening to iTunes last night and asked if I had ever heard of Journey. I just smiled and nodded.

And put a new lock on the front door.
