Saturday

Last nights sleepover went well and believe it or not, they actually slept for about 6 hours...not too bad! They watched The Sandlot and Galaxy Quest (oh my....I am not sure why I found this movie soooo veryyyy funnyyyy!!!) and ate and played. The cutest part was when the boys were talking about how LUCKY Brian is that he has older brothers who like to play with him...not sure if they realized the beanie baby war was not necessarily being played with love in their hearts.

Brian just rolled his eyes.

=0)

We had a fun time talking with Matthew and Jenn outside last night...they even made us dessert. 18. 18. 18. Sigh. He is so excited about next year...we have yet to take a dorm tour, so we'll do that this week. Sigh.

This morning, M and I took Brian on a trip to a fountain factory...we're still in search of the perfect one. A stop at Sonic was in order and a little food and a little music made us all happy.

Priceless!

We stocked up at Claro's and at Trader Joe's, spending close to what we would've on the 'perfect' fountain.

sigh.

Basketball is on TV...and yes, Alex was picked up for an AAU travel team (coached by a former pro player) as a starting guard. New position for him, but he's beyond excited. God is good and quite literally dropped this one in our laps, so we're hanging on for another fun ride!

Anyway, some boys are watching, though one has a Bach score on his lap. Brian is out front with his friends...it's spring break!! Finally! I'm going to head into the kitchen...supper is going to be a baked pasta with eggplant and sausage. With garlic bread. And maybe, just maybe...a texas sheet cake. Other than that, we have no more plans for today except hanging out...amazing! Cocktails on the patio anyone??? We're home!!

One More Time

Gotta love a 9 year old who leaves you a shopping list. He obviously was in need of chocolate. And sugar.

=0)

The cute car drove up to the house, but alas, I was running a few minutes late. That's OK...he had more time with his true love. Bach. I am used to it...last year it was Brahms. The year before it was Mozart. And Durufle. And Bernstein.

I'm used to taking 2nd fiddle (or violin, in this case) to a rather large choir and orchestra. But rest assured...they will all be just a memory in another few weeks and I will still be here.

Smiling.

SO...we drove up to Long Beach. To Belmont Shore, actually. And let me tell you...the sun was shining, the sky was blue and I am now in love. With Park Avenue, to be exact. Tons and tons of cute little cottages....emphasis on tiny AND on cute. My favorite!

And why would we drive all the way there again? I mean, COME ON, we were JUST there!

Why yes we were. We needed a do-over! (thanks to Ingrid!)

Back to the scene of the original crime...Le Creperie. Sometimes, you just gotta have a crepe. This time around it was one with chicken and artichokes and another with shrimp and lobster. And let's not forget the Napoleon crepe for dessert! I actually took lots of pictures, but crepes are just not very photogenic...but the bathroom is!

PCH, for some unknown and probably never to be known reason, was closed on the way home, so our trip home via the 405 was fast. I'm off in a few to take the crew to basketball and then home to throw a huge pork roast in the oven. Brian is having a friend sleepover tonight and we may end up taking them to see a movie at our neighborhood dollar theatre. Or maybe not...we'll see how it goes.

Aside from that, my plans for this evening involve sitting under a heat lamp in my backyard. And maybe a teeny tiny glass of wine.

7:46am

...and I am alone.

ALL ALONE.

=0)

I actually woke up early this morning...5:30am, made a quick hot tea, grabbed an afghan and did my bible study in the quiet of the backyard. Not even the birds were out yet...it was so perfectly still.

The boys all have a 1/2 day of school today...our spring break is this coming week. Matthew has an afternoon rehearsal, Alex is going to lunch before practice at 3pm, and Brian is going to a friends house.

And me?

I have an itty bitty meeting at 10 and then....and then...and then...

I'm going on a date.

I convinced that guy that I like so much, the guy who has been up to his eyeballs in Bach scores day AND night, to take the afternoon off. And take me out. So, we'll head to the beach and somewhere for lunch. It's a wonderfully dreary, cold, cloudy day!

Bach is NOT invited along.

Thursday

Playing games...Alex is teaching them all sorts of lovely things! Brian lost yet another tooth this morning and two more are on their way out...the tooth fairy will not allow her assistant to handle the transaction for her tonight. Five bucks? Nope!

=0)

I spent the morning at Brian's school and then did my normal Meals on Wheels run. I ended up at Josephine's with chik-fil-a, though she kept telling me...NO potatoes. Apparently, she's trying to lose a few pounds...I asked her if she was gearing up for swimsuit season. She's 94 and not eating french fries.

Great.

I told her she is completely ruining the 90's for me. By 94, I am so eating french fries!

Came home to an extremely clean house, thanks to Amy who sent her house cleaners my way. And I truly am sorry that her remodel is taking longer than she had planned. Sort of.

Alex is still not feeling great, so he's going to skip tonight's training session, which means we are all home for supper tonight. I'm leaning towards TJ's orange chicken...and there is more broccoli from my garden. Either that, or a pot of broccoli soup...decisions, decisions!

My neighbor just brought over some magazines for me to look at full of farmhouse kitchens...plus Alba is painting her house the most incredible color. I'm feeling the need to paint, knock out a wall or two, gut a bathroom, lay brick.

Uh-oh!

Wednesday

Still chilly, but the backyard flowers don't care.

This morning, as soon as everyone left for school, I managed to get the whole house cleaned up and was out the door rather early. I met my girlfriend on the island...Balboa Island, for a much needed hot tea and a stroll down Main Street. My very favorite store of all is a teeny tiny little French fabric store, full of...well...fabric. From France. (didn't see that one coming, did you?)

While I cannot afford to buy anything from there, I can browse with the best of them. Their tablecloths alone are glorious and just a tad bit out of my price range...the one I loved the most is $280.00. For a tablecloth. That people eat on. Can you imagine?

There is currently a HUGE Nerf war going on outside of my bedroom...did I complain about being bored yesterday?

Kinda Bored

My toes are cold.

My fingers are cold.

It is a very, very chilly day!

Today has been the strangest of days and I don't really have anything to blog about. But I am bored, so I'll blog anyway.

=0)

I watched my 5 month old neighbor for a little bit this morning, so I started my day with some baby cuddles. He is so sweet and doesn't move or talk or have somewhere to be or need money or eat everything in the house.
He just lays there and smiles and makes those little sounds that are so, so cute.

I left baby-ness for elementary school, where I volunteered in Brian's class. Except, and this is a BIG except, I kinda sorta got talking with a friend and pretty soon his class was running out for recess.

Oops.

So, I wandered across the field to school #2, where I decided to check in on son #2. All continues to be fine and he does have an A+ in PE. God bless PE.

By now it is...drum roll...10:15am. And I'm kinda bored. I mean, I could have gone home and like, cleaned or something, but I just didn't feel like it. I walked home to get my car and there on my front porch was my girlfriend, complete with 2 hot teas and a bag of scones.

Just what the DR ordered.

We sat. We talked. She drove away.

It's now 11:30. In the morning. Still.

I made a pot of chili. I made a pan of cinnamon rolls. (Does anyone else eat chili and cinnamon rolls together?) I did a load of wash. I watched Sex in the City. I talked to Matthew and Jenn when they popped home for lunch.

12:45. pm.

B-O-R-E-D.

I think I'll go walk the neighborhood and see who'll talk to me.
