Car Woes

We lead a really, really blessed life.

But we have really, really bad car karma.

And so she sits , parked, until we can figure out what to do. Again. She needs a part that starts with a number, followed by a comma, three more numbers, a dot, and ends with two zeros.

Meanwhile, my car is sitting, too. It needs a part that starts with a number, followed by a comma, three more numbers, a dot, and ends with two zeros. Are you choking? Or joking? I first choked when I heard and then asked if it was a joke.

Nope.

I'm thinking we would have done better in the horse and buggy era...or that we would thrive in a place with great public transit. Beam me up, Scotty!

Ah well, it could be worse.

I did remind God this morning that my husband is a church worker. I know he remembers, but I just thought I'd throw it in my morning prayers just in case.

I will say that after the last car mishap, we signed up for AAA. So all of these tow trucks come quickly when you call...just like that.

Shoot me now.

Lots of Singing

This morning Matthew's choir performed at a local festival...sponsored by his dad. Not really his dad, but by his dad's choir. So I guess it kinda was sponsored by his dad. Close enough.

Anyway, local high schools perform for an adjudicator as well as for each other. At the end of each event, M's main choir performs.

So today, I went and saw Matthew and his dad perform. Not together, but on the same stage within a few minutes of each other. Pretty cool.

Even more cool? Three weeks ago, I thought there was NO WAY that I would be able to attend this event. God is good. I feel like I've climbed a mountain...quite literally! I am sooo thankful!

Recipes Needed...

...for cat.

Baked. Broiled. Casseroled.

And yes, I am well aware that casseroled is not a word, but at this moment, I don't really care.

Below are my two kitties, taken yesterday. When I still liked them.

And here? They've discovered toilet paper and have tp'd my house not once. Not twice. But three times. Today. THREE. TIMES. TODAY.

Look at her...caught in the act.
Casseroled, I tell ya.

Fortunately for the cats, yet unfortunately for me, the boys walked in after roll #2 of toilet paper, which, by the way, was all over the house. And I was acting a bit...ummm...psycho. PSYCHO. I said every cuss word I know, in ITALIAN, plus a few in Hungarian. (That I picked up in the Yellow Pub in Gyor, Hungary. Remind me tell you about THAT evening!)

Anyway, I was going crazy at cats and doing that thing that pet people do, which I've never understood, yet now I do it. I was having a discussion with my cats.

Matthew told me later that they were thinking of selling tickets.

Thanks, son. You were my favorite.

Anyway, back to cat #1 and cat #2.

I'm thinking stew. I'm pretty sure the dog next door likes stew.

Brothers

It all began with three men and a late night apple pie...

Cupcakes

YUM!

Peanut butter cup cupcakes.

I'd offer to share, but the vultures ate every last one. (Except for the 1 I hid away for later!)

Our weekend isn't feeling a whole lot like a weekend. M was at a festival with his choir all day and went straight to a concert this evening. Matthew has slept the day away and is currently throwing things around...I mean cleaning up his room. Alex has been in and out and is now at open gym playing basketball. Of course. Brian had a play-off game this morning (they lost) and is now at his friend Jack's house for spaghetti and a movie...I'll pick him at 9pm. I ventured out on my own today and have held myself to only 2 mindless hours of television. I am just about done with recovery...at least I hope!

Speaking of Brian....he is going to play All Stars (soccer) this winter, and has decided to give up basketball. He's found his thing and we'll run with it....I guess all those years of having big brothers kick balls at him from the end of the hall has payed off.

Out with the warm indoors...in with the cold outdoors!

Should be fun!

Scary, Silly and Sweet

Scary! My neighbor, Alba, whom I did NOT recognize when she knocked on my door! Awesome costume!

Silly Brian and his friend Sasha.

Sweet.

Matthew and Jen.

Day 2 of NaNoWriMo and I have written very little. I had a great DR visit yesterday and am on 2 more weeks of 'house arrest' with very limited driving. All is well...God is good!

Last night was Band Spectacular and Michael went. He said Matthew's solo was awesome...wish I had been there. Tonight is Homecoming, so I am planning on going over tonight to watch the show.

Day 1

Today is the beginning of NaNoWriMo and according to their guidelines, I need to write 1, 667 words. 1,667 words per day, in order to reach the 50,000 word goal.

I already have writers block. It's not a good sign.

So instead of writing, I am dreaming of Boulder today...dreaming of when my boys were small and the highlight of each day was racing out to meet the gang at the playground. Back to the time where we had no money, but didn't really need much. Back to the time when we had no mortgage and only one car...and while it wasn't easy, it's funny how different things seem when you look back. Simpler.

My boys are growing up. And for a little while this morning I am going to be sad.

Last night was fun, but different for us. Matthew's friends stopped by and hung out for awhile. Alex and his friends were out in the neighborhood. Michael was suddenly in charge of a bunch of 9 year old boys, because their dad's didn't feel like going out, so he had them hopping! (M did call at one point and said that usually he does this after a few cocktails!) I stayed home and helped hand out candy...lots and lots of candy. I missed our normal big party...lots. So next year we are back on...God willing! Brian scored some banana laffy taffy, which he gladly handed over. YUM!
Brian was the talk of the school, which is exactly what he wanted. Sigh. He was so funny as a cheerleader...dancing and singing. Last night people kept giving him extra candy for having such a great costume. What a crazy kid. Fits in well with this crazy house. =0)

So, now on to today. I have an appointment this afternoon, and I am hoping to get clearance to drive. Don't tell, but I have to drive tonight no matter what. Matthew has a show (he's bussed over), Alex has to be at the same show (he's not), and Brian has a soccer play-off game. All at the same time! M will take Alex and stay for their show. I will take Brian, and once there I can sit and watch. We'll eat Italian Beef sandwiches in shifts beforehand so everyone will get fed. I'm thinking Brian and I will swing by Nick's after his game and pick up a pizza to surprise the guys with when they get home later...they'll be cold and hungry.

Besides, I miss my friend Hector!
