Words To Live By

Tuesday

Last night's supper with Jimmy...

...became last night's supper with Jimmy AND Pat!

Today, M took the day off and after a somewhat lazy morning, we headed out and ran a bazillion errands. Bazillion.

And you all know how much I love to shop.

Not.

He did take me to lunch at Wahoo's, cuz sometimes when you're running a bazillion errands, you just need to stop for a fish taco.

Or in my case, a Wahoo bowl...which was served not in a bowl, but on a plate.

All together now...YUM!

Home just in time to have all 3 of my boys walk in within 5 minutes of each other.

MarioKart is pretty popular.

Supper tonight is a toss up between grandma's rice krispie chicken, oven fried chicken or balsamic chicken. I'm still deciding and have a little over an hour before I have to make up my mind. Requests are being accepted.

It is cold and grey outside, so I am going to make dessert, too....something that will make the house smell good. My neighbor dropped off some magazines, so I am going to take a hot bath and catch up on some reading!

Nothing Much

Monday.

I love Mondays, mainly because they are the calm following the chaos. I also love the weekends, because they are the chaos following the calm.

Strange, I know.

Most were up and out of the house early, though one is home with me today. Alex is feeling crummy and after being on the road all day yesterday with fellow sick players, I knew it was coming.

And why, oh why, did our games have to be so very far away in a time where gas is so very, very expensive?

sigh.

I was thankful for my gas guzzler when the place we were playing (an hour from home) was on a street that was missing. Or at least the top of it was missing. I had to have Alex move some cones and we drove between all the bulldozers and other rather large equipment over a very, very rocky path to get us there.

Ah well, I am a woman driver. And proud of it.

Once again, I had a carload of boys...the same ones who were with me when I tried to run the security gate.

Woman. Driver.

M has a huge long day today, but after today it is winding down. Graduation is Friday night and I am beginning to think he'll make it. A little grumpier than when he started, but that'll go quickly away, especially once he is drinking his German beer. In Germany.

double sigh.

On to the plan for today. Let's see. There's laundry. Lots of it, actually. I did the ever needy floors already and the dishwasher is running for the 2nd time. Alex has had a 'lovingly made by mom' breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast, which is a treat because I am not a breakfast maker unless it is for supper, which always reminds me why I am not a breakfast maker.

My husband, on the other hand, rocks at breakfast foods. Absolutely rocks, which leaves me joyously guilt-free.

OK...so I also need to make a supper that can be eaten in 2 or 3 shifts because Jimmy is back in town and is coming over...and his request is something Italian. That'll be a struggle.

I am also speaking at MOPS again this week and the theme is Proverbs 31. Wow. Because as a new young mom...which is what MOPS is made up of, you don't have enough pressure to keep it all together.

So, instead of writing something insightful and inspiring, I am doing what I do best.

Blogging about nothing.

triple sigh.

OH, and in case you were all wondering, the kitties are doing very well. And I am sure you were all wondering.

A little something...

...on our day of nothing.

=0)

The 1st official dive off the high dive!

Yesterday...

...was a very great day.

=0)

I am, for the next 2 weeks, only a 1 year younger than my husband....then he'll surge ahead of me again. Whew.

The daytime was crazy busy with the now ended, until October, school book fair. Do not ask me if I am chairing it again next year for at least a few weeks and then I'll give you an answer.

Following tear down and pack up and put away and clean up, I did the usual basketball driving with that kid I like so much...my #5. Came home and got Brian off to a neighbors birthday party, saw Matthew for all of 5 minutes before he and Jenn went out, and then...and THEN....I put my jammies on.

In the quiet of the backyard, we ate chinese food in throwaway containers, thankyouverymuch, and drank champagne.

Perfect.

And now it is Saturday...and are you ready for the best part?

There is nothing, absolutely NOTHING on my schedule today.

NOTHING.

Alex slept at Kyle's and aside from coming home to change his contacts, I'm thinking they'll be shooting hoops for most of the day. Matthew drove to drum corps with his resignation form in hand, though he texted and said they were giving him a hard time about leaving, so we'll see what ends up happening. M is drinking coffee and eating bread pudding in the backyard...where I'll soon be, and Brian is playing the mostest bestest funnest game for the wii ever. EVER.

MarioKart. For wii.

Oh my.

So, my Saturday plans are to play wii, pull weeds, play wii, make a pot roast with dried porcinis and a bottle of red wine in it, and play wii.

Can't beat that, now can you?

Today...

...is a very good day.

=0)

It began a tad rocky, but that's ok.

Son #1 awoke and immediately started to slam doors and pound on doors and spread his good cheer. Turns out he was NOT late, but he just wanted a good parking spot at school.

OH.

Son #2 held his ground in the bathroom, much to the dismay of son #1. He emerged in a cheerful and pleasant mood (for real) and actually sat and chatted while he ate his nutritious breakfast of cookie crisp cereal and waffles with syrup. And OJ.

Son #3 is back to not sleeping and my hopes for him to sleep consistently thru the night during his 9th (yes, 9th) year of life are being dashed. Ah well, there is always hope for the 10th year. He was his normal chipper self until the moment when he was going to step out the door after selectively choosing to not hear me remind him to brush his teeth. So much drama in such a little body.

M is out back sweeping up after yet another party in our backyard. Oh my. He is wanting to take me out tonight and is trying his hardest to be understanding about my plea for a night home. If all goes well, the bookfair (which I will be working ALL day) will be torn down and cleaned up by 4:30pm. I will, if all goes well, be home and in my jammies by 5pm. We have had something EVERYNIGHT for the last 2 weeks and I want to stay HOME, but alas, it is my birthday and I had to put my foot down. Ruths Chris? Nope. Maggiano's? Nope. Nick's? Nope. Nada. Nein.

I want a hot bath followed by chinese food in my jammies on my couch in front of a movie. Bliss. Throw in a little limoncello and maybe, just maybe some bread pudding and I will, quite simply, cry tears of joy.
